Comnatix is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to own the services behind our payments reconciliation platform, which processes about 40 million ledger events a day for mid-market finance teams.
What you will do
- Design, build and operate Python (FastAPI) and Go services backed by PostgreSQL and Kafka.
- Own the reliability of the reconciliation pipeline: idempotent consumers, exactly-once style processing, backfills and replay.
- Lead design reviews, write clear RFCs and mentor two to three engineers.
- Improve observability (OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana) and drive p99 latency down on our public API.
- Partner with product and finance operations to turn messy business rules into well-tested code.
What we are looking for
- 6+ years building backend systems in production, at least 2 years in a senior or lead role.
- Strong Python or Go, SQL and data modelling in PostgreSQL (indexing, partitioning, query plans).
- Experience with event streaming (Kafka or Kinesis) and distributed systems failure modes.
- AWS (ECS or EKS, RDS, SQS), Terraform, CI/CD.
- Clear written communication and a habit of writing tests.
Nice to have: payments or fintech background, PCI DSS exposure, experience running on-call. Location: Remote (US time zones). Salary range: $175,000 to $210,000 plus equity.
